3 DAY EXTENDED DAY

This program was introduced in 2007 and has been very popular.  This class is open to children turning 4 by September 30th of the school year.  The classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday and last 4 hours, longer than our other class.  Children will work on kindergarten readiness skills and follow a similar curriculum to our typical class, but will add extra enrichment activities and lunch is also included.  Class size is limited to 16 children.

CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES
Our classes enjoy many diverse activities, both inside the classroom and out. While in class your child will explore literacy, math, science, art, music, movement, gym, and much more. We also concentrate on acclimating your child to a learning environment, helping ensure a successful transition to kindergarten.

 EXPLORATION DAYS
Come with us as we explore new areas and learn new things.  We go on select days throughout the year to exciting places such as the Dayton Art Institute, the Experi-center, Donato's Pizza, Boonshoft Exhibits to Go and more.

Preschool Program Highlights

  • Teacher qualifications--Our lead teachers have degrees in early childhood or elementary education.  Most have many years experience in the preschool classroom, and have training outside of the center in their field.
  • Class Size--Our classes are limited to 12, 3 year olds or 16, 4 year olds.  All classes have two teachers.  We do not use floaters or art aides, who only come in to assist a single teacher at busier times.  Our teachers are there for your child's class only, and focus their attention on them the entire class period.
  • Facility--Our facility is for early childhood education only.  Our classrooms have up-to-date, age appropriate materials.  Materials are rotated often to maintain children's interests, and our diverse world is well represented in print, classroom materials and everyday activities.
  • Staff training--All our staff is trained in CPR, First Aid, Communicable Diseases and Child Abuse Recognition.  Our teachers are also required to take outside training in topics relevant to the age they teach, such as science and math exploration, preschool development and literacy to name a few.
  • Playground-- Our playground is in compliance with the Consumer Products Safety Commission 's guidelines for playground safety, which is above what the state of Ohio requires.  We have rubber mulch under our play equipment for an extra safe fall zone for the children.  The children have their own playground time, so they can enjoy the playground in safe numbers.
  • Gym--Our gym sets us apart from many early childhood centers.  This is a great space where the children can develop their large muscles, regardless of weather.  Our teachers use this space for music and movement, group activities, and the children love to just run around, roll on scooters or play with balls.
  • Curriculum--Our curriculum meets the National Association for the Education of Young Children's standards for content and age appropiateness.  Our teachers plan their day with specific goals and objectives in mind for your child.  They work on both academic and social skills, to better prepare the children for a successful kindergarten experience.  Teachers use a variety of mediums to enhance learning in science, math, literacy, manipulative skills, language development, music and motor skills.
  • Parent Involvement--Parent's are welcome to observe the classroom at any time.  We have opportunities throughout the year for parents to volunteer to assist in the classroom, help the teacher with preparation, help at parties or supply special materials for certain occasions.  We also have programs throughout the year where parents and families come to see their child's special accomplishments.
